In Bennett’s latest work he investigates the FCC’s Mobile Competition Report. Bennett believes that the U.S. cellular market appears healthy. He points out that Americans pay the lowest price for minutes in the world and have access to the latest and greatest phones that cost less than European alternatives that are not quite as stellar. But he points out that the FCC’s latest report paints a dire picture of the marketplace that is in need of regulation.

The FCC has conducted a recent survey on consumer broadband experience of which 80% of those surveyed did not know what speed Internet they were subscribed. The FCC’s Consumer Task Force will be following up with actual speed tests to determine if actual speeds are equivalent to the advertised speeds consumer are sold on.

Harris reports that Facebook has announced a more simple, top-level system of handling privacy over user information and how that information is shared with applications and third parties. Dixon discusses the difference between Netflix streaming clients. He points out that a streaming client from the company is now available on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Blu-Ray players from Vizio, Insignia, LG, Sony, Panasonic, and TiVo DVR’s. And is also available on 12 different brands of televisions, the iPad, and iPhone and Android applications are in the pipeline.
