The Story of Electronics is a viral video currently making its way across the Internet.  It has been produced by Annie Leonard and Free Range Studios.  The video examines the way electronics are made and takes the position that all electronics are “designed for the dump,” that electronics are made to be expensive to repair to encourage new purchases instead of repairs, and that the recycling of these electronics releases harmful toxins into the environment.

The Story of Electronics, could be seen as anti-consumer, as its predecessor The Story of Stuff was accused of being by Lee Doren.

As an aside, many of the concepts within the video are not ideas that Digital Society supports.  But there a few concepts like modular repair parts and certain suggestions for innovation in design that are worth a discussion in the comments.

Have a look at share your thoughts on The Story of Electronics.
