FCC third way – Shattering the congressional tether

Congress has told the FCC no on reclassification and the courts have told the FCC that they cannot exceed their congressional authority, but the current FCC seems determined to shatter the congressional tether based on a manufactured crisis.

Google introduces basic video editing on YouTube

Perhaps to stem the tide competing cloud based video editors, Google has launched there own online YouTube video editor. From my initial impression of the service, it seems to be usable as a quick and dirty editor but it’s no substitute for even the most basic locally run editor.

Mobile networks are perfect for video broadcasting

Earlier this week I wrote that “Mobile networks aren’t for Video on Demand” which was read by many visitors. The fundamental problem with mobile VoD is that each video user can ask for more network capacity than all of the other phone and web users combined. But this isn’t the end of the road for video on mobile networks and the problems can be overcome with IP multicasting.

ISP’s Compromising To Prevent FCC “Third Way”

There is a report from David Hatch at CongressDaily that indicates that several industry groups have compromised and are pushing for some light touch legislation that may prevent Internet Service Providers from prioritizing content but will prevent the FCC from being able to pursue it’s “Third Way” option to reclassify the Internet as a “telecommunications service” under Title II.
