PS3 Loves The Internetz
Playstation 3 is the most connected device in America, according to a Diffusion Group report on connected entertainment systems.
TDG also found that of houses connected to broadband Internet connections, a third own game consoles that also are connected to the Internet. Of 2,030 adult broadband users surveyed, 78 percent of PS3 owners had their systems connected to the Internet, followed closely by 73 percent of Xbox 360 owners and 54 percent of Nintendo Wii owners.
The importance of this data is not simply the number of people who are connected to play online games but that they are connected to purchase downloadable content, music, movies, TV shows, and other e-commerce products. The more connected users there are, the greater the potential for online services and increased revenue. That has to concern Nintendo, which leads the console market in sales but has only a 54 percent adoption rate for its online services and DLC.
