Live Blog: Take II On Broadband

By K. Daniel Glover 23 March 2010 No Comment

It’s a busy day on the broadband beat. In addition to National Journal’s event on the subject, the Technology Policy Institute and Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy invited experts from industry, academia and government to the National Press Club to share their initial thoughts on the plan.

Blair Levin, who heads the FCC unit that drafted the plan, gave the keynote address. The rest of the event features two panel discussions, the first on innovation and investment in broadband and the second on increasing broadband access to underserved populations. The speakers are:

  • Thomas Lenard of the Technology Policy Institute (moderator); James Cicconi of AT&T; Kyle McSlarrow of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association; Peter Pitsch of Intel; Gregory Rosston of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research; and Thomas Tauke of Verizon.
  • John Mayo of Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy (moderator); Robert Crandall of the Brookings Institution; Walter McCormick of USTelecom; Lee Rainie of the Pew Internet and America Life Project; Robert Shapiro of the Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy; and Joseph Waz of Comcast

Stay tuned for news tidbits from the event.
