Conspiracy theories about Verizon Droid exchange access debunked

By George Ou 3 November 2009 2 Comments

Wired and Infoworld is reporting that Verizon is somehow blocking Exchange access on the Motorola Droid unless subscribers pay an extra $15 for Exchange access and it has some people up in arms.  PC Magazine did some fact checking and debunked this conspiracy theory.  This is yet another Net Neutrality false alarm.

interesting – I was just told this WAS the case (you have to pay the $15/mo to connect to your companies exchange server) by a rep in a verizon store just over an hour ago (5 days after launch) & HE called corporate because he said I was the 1st person who’d asked him about it… I have no idea what the “truth” is but at this point I think I’ll hold off until real users go though a couple of billing cycles – something tells me “but xyz.com debunked this!” wouldn’t get the charge taken off my bill…

Tom, never believe what a sales rep of ANYTHING tells you. This conspiracy theory was debunked long ago.
